So FYI, I work at a fab bakery. And, yes, I know I have a BA. And, yes, I am okay with that.
So, you may ask, what do I do in my free time? BAKE, DUH!!
I would now like to delve into the wondrous world of culinary creations from my kitchen and share loads of recipes for you to try...or just salivate over. For now I will start with the ever delish sugar cookies I recently made. (For those of you who can't read, I provided pictures...I am always looking out for the illiterate.)
Sugar Cookies a la Octobre:
"Every cookie is a sugar cookie. A cookie without sugar is a cracker!"

Combine 1 1/4 C. sugar and 1 C. Crisco/shortening (I know that is butter in the picture, but the cookies spread like an infectious disease, so I am sticking with Crisco from now on.) Mix until well blended.

Add 2 eggs, 1/4 C. corn syrup, and 1 TBsp. vanilla.

Mix until fluffy.

In a separate bowl, (your bowls can be the same color...I just don't feel good about it, just so you know.) combine 3 C. Flour, 3/4 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, and 1/2 tsp. salt.

Add gradually to cream mixture until blended. (I add about 1/3 at a time).
"Why was the cookie cutter invented? Only for the sugar cookie. It's the only cookie that needs cosmetic surgery to be liked."
Divide into fourths, wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hr.

Lightly flour the counter...or table, or some flat surface (I wouldn't recommend the floor, but that's your call.) Roll out dough to about 1/4-1/2 inch thick (the thinner the dough the crunchier the cookie...and the harder it is to move!)

"Sugar cookie's got a new look every holiday trying to make you like it...like a desperate 8th grade girl."

Bake at 375 for 5-9 minutes, depending on the size of the cookies. I find using a dark cooking sheet is great for soft cookies with a crisp bottom...don't go there!

To glaze, simply combine 1 C. powdered sugar with 1 TBsp. water or milk...either works. Oh, and your favorite shade of food coloring...I went with the ever festive pumpkin orange!
If you find you are incapable of making these, give me a shout...I'll most likely be willing to help out....or make them for you on special occasions.
